Saturday 12th December, 10am - 1pm, £15 for non-members
At Heart Jewel Centre, Matlock Bath
With Gen Kelsang Osung
About the course
According to Buddhism, by far the best thing we can do for ourselves is to stop believing in a limited, ordinary, and often painful sense of ourself as if it was the truth.
And to understand instead that we are merely imputed by conceptual thought, like everything else.
Once we dissolve away this limited, permanent sense of self, we become free from the sufferings of the self and open the door to liberation from all suffering.
This is why we need to do the meditation on the emptiness of our self.
On this half day course with Gen Osung we will explore this profoundly meaningful topic and will guide this meditation on selflessness
“In summary, we should know that through practising Dharma we can all make ourselves happy all the time. In this context, Dharma means principally Buddha’s teaching on selflessness, emptiness. Selflessness means that our self and all other phenomena that we normally see or perceive do not exist. Je Tsongkhapa said that since the son of a childless woman does not exist, its suffering and problems cannot exist. Likewise, since our self that we normally see does not exist, its suffering and problems cannot exist.”
How to Understand the Mind, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Everyone is welcome.
£15 for non-members, free to members.
