LATEST NEWS - February
Residency
Talking of building sites, the final phase of the renovation is now completed, and the bedrooms soon
to be carpeted - so there are two very lovely large rooms ready to become a home for a couple of
fortunate beings!
So if you know of anyone who would relish the opportunity to live in a flourishing Dharma centre,
do let them know.. There’s no necessity to be a Buddhist, only someone with a wish for a tranquil
way of life. We don’t expect the rooms to be vacant for long..

Meditation classes
We’ve also completed the first term of drop-in meditation classes - at our usual venues in
Ashbourne, Belper, and at Heart Jewel Centre, and have also set up 3 new branch classes - in Ripley,
Bakewell and back in Matlock.
Although slightly hampered by the snow - even by a full blown blizzard at one Belper class - the
turn out was encouraging, with many people commenting how much they enjoyed the course
content focusing on meditation benefits and techniques.
The next term is due to start this week - entitled ‘Happiness - Where and How?’ See ‘Drop in
meditation classes’ section for details of weekly topics.
Breaking news - We now have a new branch to start this term in Chesterfield..

Relaxing evenings
The Christmas banquet was a great success, with live music being provided by a talented local duo
and a sumptuous feast cooked up by local members.
Our next evening event is a special ‘Stop the Week’ evening - with the usual relaxing meditation
followed by a delicious 3 course vegetarian meal - but also with a showing of the recently recorded
visit by Venerable Geshe-la to the French Kadampa Meditation Centre.
The video is incredibly inspiring and shows Ven. Geshe-la meeting with the volunteers who worked
so hard to renovate the chateau, turning a near derelict building into a beautiful temple..
Sound familiar?? We thought so too.. So please do come along and share Geshe-la’s heartfelt thanks
for the work being done all over the world to further the vision for world peace.
All the money raised from this event will be donated to the International Temples Project - an
international charity dedicated to establishing environments for the development of inner and outer
peace throughout the world.
To book for any other event, email meditate@heartjewel.org.uk or phone 01629 581585.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
